5 Tablespoons Of : Chicago: Day One.

LUNCH/DINNER

– Giordano’s –

1340 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60605

Day One in Chicago was all about taking it all in! It was my first time out of Texas for a real vacation and I was just so overwhelmed with joy. We got an amazing deal at the beautiful Renaissance Blackstone Hotel in Downtown Chicago so we planned for our four nights to be there. I didn’t document it with pictures, but taking the “L” which is the main train transportation system in Chicago  apart from Taxis and Uber rides was the best first Chicago experience I had. We took the “L” straight from Chicago O’Hare Airport and 9 stops later, we were in the heart of Downtown Chicago and only 5 blocks away from The Blackstone Hotel. As we were making our way to the Hotel walking the streets of downtown, I had a moment of disbelief. I felt so lucky to have the opportunity to make it in to such a beautiful city. The architecture was surreal, and the streets were so busy with traffic of people walking to and from every direction of the city. It was the most lovely sight. We had not had anything to eat since the previous night, so when we finally made it to the hotel at noon, we did not hesitate and went straight out to find some Chicago deep dish pizza! Gabe had his heart set on Giordano’s so, to Giordano’s we went. I wasn’t a big fan of the wait time for the deep dish Pizza, but it was well worth it when it came out. The pizza was perfectly warm, cheese was melting in all of the right directions, and that first bite of cheesy, saucy, meaty goodness was surreal. And that crust! Oh man, that crust! it was just perfection at the end of the perfect ooey gooey bite. Giordano’s was the perfect experience of our first ever Chicago Stuffed Deep Dish Pizza. We later walked off the pizza by exploring a few blocks of downtown and went straight to our Hotel to rest shortly after that evening. We were exhausted, but so excited for our next 4 days in Chicago!
